This one’s for the couples who dream of a fashion-forward wedding day inspired by all things editorial, artistic, and avant-garde—and are unwilling to settle for anything less than spectacular. Welcome; you’re right where you’re meant to be.
I’ve always been inspired by things outside of photography: Interiors. Music. Fashion. Poetry. They challenge me to innovate instead of replicate, and they help me bring concepts to life that are rarely born from images: they’re born from feelings.
In fact, I was doodling gowns in school notebooks before I ever even picked up a camera! My first dream was to become a fashion designer, and in many ways, I think I’m still designing—just through light, mood, and story instead of fabric.
This is why fashion-forward celebrations and photoshoots hold such a special place in my heart—and why today, I want to share the 8 key elements of a high-fashion, editorial wedding.
I’ll be taking you through the essential ingredients you need to curate something extraordinary; a day that blends together luxury aesthetics, intentional details, and immersive experiences. A day that not just looks, but feels completely one-of-a-kind, isn’t afraid to be bold, and delivers an unparalleled experience you’ll never forget.

Before we get any further, I want to clarify what I mean by “high-fashion” and “editorial,” since these terms are often thrown around in the wedding world as umbrella descriptors—without any real specifics or tangible direction. Both can apply to the overarching theme of your wedding, design & decor aesthetics, outfits, imagery/photography style and more.
High-fashion editorial weddings revolve around curated, creative, and artistic storytelling, inspired by literal editorials & spreads you’d find in a fashion magazine—think Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair.
Let’s clarify what an editorial wedding is & isn’t, and address a few common misconceptions I often hear from couples!
Editorial weddings do:
Editorial weddings do not:
Editorial wedding style isn’t just about beauty for the sake of beauty—it’s about curating a beautiful, immersive experience for all involved, every step of the way. It’s about breaking the boundaries of what’s possible, what’s expected, for the sake of something better; crafting something more imaginative, more exciting, and more poignant than tradition ever could.

All fashion-forward, editorial weddings share a few things in common—fundamentals that allow you to step outside of the box of conventional ideas, and produce something truly remarkable. Infusing high-fashion & editorial inspiration into these 8 areas of your wedding day will help you curate an event that does more than just impress: it leaves an impact.
My love for a delicious color palette has no bounds! Neutral colors are out and bold, vibrant color palettes are so in when it comes to the high-fashion wedding world. Color is essential to creating both a beautiful & an emotionally evocative experience, influencing not only how parts of your day are perceived but how they are felt. For this reason, editorial weddings are where brave color palettes SHINE!
I encourage you to really lean into personality and drama with your color palette, using colors to evoke the emotions you want you (& your guests) to feel throughout the day: think rich reds to invoke passion and love; greens to infuse harmony, balance, and growth; deep purples or burgundies to add a little air of mystery and sensuality. Picking your wedding colors is about more than simply deciding what’s pretty; it’s about telling a bold, disciplined color story throughout your day.
Monochrome is also having a moment, and I am SO here for it. Opting for monochromatic set design, outfits, decor, or florals allows other elements to shine—think light, texture, composition, and structure. I’m personally looooving monochromatic blooms and single-stem flowers that allow the silhouettes, shapes, and patterns to steal the show! Intentional color pairings can also make just as much of a statement—cobalt blue and lime are a current obsession of mine.

Fashion-forward wedding design is all about innovation; disrupting the status quo with creative concepts, solutions, and unconventional ideas. Editorial compositions are simple but striking, experimenting with traditional shapes, symmetry, and sizing to produce something new.
Sculptural design is common among editorial wedding aesthetics, blurring the lines between everyday, utilitarian objects (such as a table or chairs) and sculptural artistry—for example, taking a traditional ceremony arch and transforming it into a sculptural art piece in its own right.
You’ll often see design innovation incorporated into wedding day elements such as floral installations, tablescapes, reception floor plans, ceremony aisle & altars, and one of my personal favorite places to infuse unconventional design elements: curtains and drapery!

When it comes to the smaller details of a high-fashion editorial wedding, your job is simple: think outside of the typical wedding box. Avant-garde design is all about pushing the limits of what’s expected, even (especially) when it comes to the smaller details that are typically overlooked or kept fairly orthodox. Each and every detail plays an important role in telling the story of your event—nothing is too small to serve a purpose, and every detail offers an opportunity to elevate.
A few examples I’m loving lately that you can steal as inspo:
→ Instead of a traditional veil… try an oversized hat with an extra wide brim
→ Instead of a plain black tie… bejewel it with brooches
→ Instead of carrying your florals in hand… throw them over your shoulder
→ Instead of regular printed stationery that will be tossed after the wedding… turn your invites into copperplate keepsakes
→ Instead of a typical ceremony arch… play around with shapes, fabrics, and textures
→ Instead of traditional florals lining the aisle… surround yourselves with cascading hydrangea installations
→ Instead of handing your guests plain white fans… opt for hand-painted custom ones they’ll be able to keep forever

There is NOTHING I love more than a well thought-out tablescape, designed to invite guests into an immersive experience rather than simply a meal. Gathering around tables with loved ones to connect over delicious food is always a gift, so why not transform it into something even more unforgettable; a memory you’ll cherish for years to come?
Tablescapes offer an opportunity to play with texture, depth, and color; a chance to tell a story and curate ambiance through purposeful details that captivate the senses. So don’t skip over the reception tables when it comes to designing your wedding day—they play just as key a role in the experience of your day as your ceremony altar.

The setting of your wedding will play an enormous role in the atmosphere you create, and the experience you immerse yourselves in. It’s important that you and your guests are able to feel a sense of place; that looking around the venue during the day brings a sense of awe, wonder, and joy!
To immediately set the stage for your editorial wedding, break out of the conventional wedding venue box and opt for something a little more unique. Be sure to pay attention to architecture, flow of space, lighting fixtures, furnishings, decor, structural elements, and color schemes. For example…

There is SO much more to lighting than simply brightening up a room—lighting is everything when it comes to setting the mood of your wedding day, no matter the type of venue you host it at. Beautiful, intentional lighting can truly transform a space from meh to absolutely eye-catching, and enhances the overall aesthetic of the experience from start to finish.
Below are a few unique lighting installation ideas that would immediately elevate any editorial wedding:

You already know I am eternally inspired by innovative design when it comes to decor, architecture, and florals—so of COURSE I am also equally, if not more, obsessed with bridal fashion. And not just for brides, but for grooms, wedding parties, guests, & more. Your wedding attire makes a statement about who you are, and what you want to embody on your special day—maybe that’s timeless romance, avant-garde elegance, historic opulence, or your own unique blend of them all. Creating a standout bridal look will add immensely to the high-fashion, editorial feel of your day!
And there are truly endless different ways you can experiment with your wedding attire to make it feel bold, personal, and, most importantly, true to you: color, texture, fabric, form, silhouettes, applique, movement, sleeves, shaping… the options are limitless to find something you adore.
