Looking for a one-of-a-kind venue with dramatic architecture, expansive grounds, and a dance floor beneath… an airplane? You can have all of that and more with a wedding at the historic Henry Ford Museum, an iconic wedding venue in Metro Detroit unlike any other.
The museum offers an incredibly unique space to host your wedding reception, with 12 acres of space to enjoy including the main Museum Plaza and Prechter Promenade (a dream for your grand entrance), as well as two on-site ceremony options: the Anderson Theater and Pennsylvania Courtyard. If an outdoor ceremony is important to you, the picturesque gardens of the Pennsylvania Courtyard paint a gorgeous backdrop of arched glass windows, lush green trees, and moss-covered exposed brick walls. Alternatively, the gilded Anderson Theater is a lovely space for an indoor ceremony with a more vintage vibe.
Wedding packages at the Henry Ford Museum require a $15 facility fee per person, in addition to a food and beverage minimum. Venue rentals include the following:
A self-described “blissful slice of Europe nestled in the Midwest,” Greencrest Manor is what estate weddings dreams are made of. This 1930s estate brings the warmth of a well-loved European home, as well as historic architecture you’d expect from a nearly century-old countryside manor, right to Michigan. Aren’t we the luckiest?
I have yet to decide what my favorite element of Greencrest Manor is: the verdant gardens, the ivy-covered brick walls, the gorgeous wood details, the French-inspired interiors… every bit of these grounds were designed for joy-filled, thoughtful gatherings like yours. Choose from a multitude of whimsical spaces to celebrate, from the Lawn Deck overlooking the gardens, to the interiors of the Manor itself, to the open-air reception hall surrounded by greenery. And to make this property even more magical, you and your guests can enjoy a stay in cozy garden cottages throughout your entire wedding weekend.
Wedding weekend rates at Greencrest Manor start at $58,000, and include the following:
Clairwood Estate is an up and coming Grosse Point wedding venue, nestled in the most idyllic location on the shores of Lake St. Claire. I’ve truly never seen a venue designed with so much heart, passion, and care for both interior & exterior design—then again, how could you go wrong with a gorgeous Colonial Revival home from the late 1920s? From the chic and sophisticated powder room to the grand staircase, this restored mansion looks beautiful at every angle, in all lighting scenarios, and at any time of year.
The most loved room in the venue is by far the library; a spacious room filled with rows and rows of vintage books, statues, candlelit chandeliers, rich wood details, and—if you take a moment to look up—vibrant paintings covering the ceilings. It’s giving Beauty and the Beast in the best possible way… enchanting beyond words.

Just a couple hours from Detroit sits Belvedere Estate, a mansion inspired by the calm and quiet of the bucolic European countryside. The venue has nicknamed itself a “mini Versailles” for a reason, featuring manicured Italian gardens, ivy-covered stone walls, and ornamental details—all designed by Italian artisans in the early 1900s to deliver an immersive experience among the landscapes.
No matter where you choose to share your first look, exchange your vows, and take your newlywed portraits—from the outdoor garden, to the Italian terrace, to the crystal-lit ballroom—you’ll end up with not only gorgeous photos, but beautiful memories with your guests. And fair warning, you’ll probably want to spend hours admiring the European-inspired interiors, original parquet floors, and handlaid stone pathways… you can feel the love and warmth in every little detail.

Detroit’s Colony Club is the very definition of old-fashioned luxury, featuring an impeccable and historic event space right on the corner of Park Avenue that will have your jaw on the floor. Start your celebration with a ceremony at the dramatic Gem Theatre first, then head over to the Colony Club for a lavish reception!
Multiple ballrooms encompass over 8,000 square feet of this venue, with the Grand Ballroom being the most in-demand for weddings—and for quite good reason. It is an absolute gem of a space that embodies opulence & luxury, with soaring ornate gold-leaf ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and Louis XVI-style decor that is sure to stun every guest who walks in the room. For more intimate gatherings, the Petite Ballroom is equally as elegant, but on a slightly smaller scale.
Wedding packages at the Colony Club start at $157 per person (not including ceremony fee), and include the following:

This world-recognized city club is an icon of downtown Detroit, founded in 1887 and since renovated with a brand new seven-story Clubhouse in the early 1900s. It boasts an unparalleled location to tie the knot in the heart of Detroit’s sports and theater district, with striking exteriors to match its upscale, impressive interior amenities. You’ll find marble staircases beneath massive paintings, gorgeous leather couches, and endless spots to cozy up as you watch the sunset over the city skyline—unbeatable.
Because the DAC is famous for its tradition and elegance, all members are expected to follow a certain dress code—so it’s the ideal place to host a black-tie wedding & invite your guests to dress to the nines. If you’re looking for a stunning venue to host your loved ones in downtown Detroit, with plenty of beautiful space to celebrate, a prized culinary team, and an incredibly refined atmosphere, then the Detroit Athletic Club is a fabulous option.
P.S. Did I mention that the DAC has a private bowling clubhouse in its basement, where you can host an epic wedding afterparty without having to venture outside of the venue?!

My god am I dreaming of photographing a wedding here… ASAP. There is NOTHING I adore more than a wedding venue that feels a bit untraditional; one that steps outside the bounds of the common ballroom, club, or countryside atmosphere and offers a different type of character. At the Detroit Institute of Arts, your wedding is not only a celebration but a piece of artwork in itself—surrounded by magnificent creations by some of the world’s finest artists.
The DIA offers two spectacular art-filled event spaces: the Great Hall and the Rivera Court, able to be booked separately or together for your wedding reception. Also available for receptions ,as well as ceremonies, are the Kresge and Prentis Court, the former an open-air courtyard and the latter a contemporary indoor space. I cannot get over the idea of celebrating in the Great Hall or Rivera Court, beneath glimmering chandeliers, awe-inspiring artwork, and windows that allow natural light into the space… absolutely divine.
Wedding Weekend packages at the Detroit Institute of Arts start at $35,000, and include the following:

The Whitney is the place to get married for couples envisioning a fairytale-esque wedding in a local Detroit gem. Not only is it an elegant mansion, it’s also been voted “Detroit’s Most Romantic Restaurant” and provides a multitude of inspiring locations to host your big day.
There are two ceremony spaces inside of The Whitney: the warm and luxurious Great Hall, or the Second Floor Landing. Featuring Tiffany stained-glass windows and an enchanting staircase entrance, the Landing is the most popular option, and has room for up to 60 seated guests. Outside of the mansion, the Whitney Garden features an array of vibrant greenery, bright flowers, and a glimmering fountain—pure perfection in the spring and summer months.
Wedding packages at The Whitney vary based on the spaces you choose, requiring both a space rental fee as well as a food & beverage minimum. Packages include the following:
Finally, we’ll end this list with a crown jewel of Detroit: the Fox Theatre, one of the world’s most iconic theatres and music venues. Along with featuring multiple award-winning Broadway musicals and local stage shows, the Fox is also available to rent out for private weddings! It’s an unbelievably beautiful and one-of-a-kind venue, with dramatic lighting and a collection of Egyptian, Indian, and Oriental motifs galore. Towering arches hold stunning organs all around the oval auditorium, with decorative gilded statues covering the walls—and, at the centerpiece of the room, a massive glass chandelier dazzles above. This is a truly exceptional venue, perfect for the couple who adores all things art, theater, music, and/or architecture!
