Before I share my favorite luxury wedding planners in the Seattle area, let’s get clear on what exactly wedding planning is, and what it’s not. Proper expectations are key to making sure you feel confident and prepared heading into your vendor search!

What’s the difference between wedding coordination and planning?

Great question—I am asked this constantly by my couples! I don’t blame you one bit for being confused by all the industry lingo, especially since it can all blur together when you’re in the midst of the wedding excitement.

Let me break down a few of the most common terms for you surrounding wedding planning, so you know what’s what:

Wedding Coordination: Wedding coordinators are more focused on logistics, and work with you on a shorter timeframe—often in just the 1-2 months leading up to your wedding. Duties typically include contract management, venue walkthroughs, and rehearsal dinners.

Wedding Planning: Planners take on a more all-encompassing role and work with you for longer, often up to the entire year (or more) before your wedding. Duties typically include vendor meetings and coordination, budget management, accommodation and transportation coordination, timeline, and on-site support. Design and production services may or may not be included!

Partial Planning: Hiring a planner for partial planning services typically means they’ll support you with nitty-gritty logistical details, potentially certain design elements, timeline creation, and consultation—but little to no hands-on, day-of support.

Full-Service Planning: Full-service planners offer the most hands-on approach of all, taking care of essentially everything for you—from vendor management to floor plan creation, day-of setup and teardown to guest communications, and more. What do full-service luxury wedding planners typically offer?

This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but here are the most common services you might expect a high-end, luxury wedding planner to offer:

This enables them to really pour their time, resources, and energy into each couple, and make sure they deliver the most hands-on, care-filled experience possible.

How much does a luxury wedding planner cost in Seattle?

It’s challenging to give an accurate estimate, since every planner is so different. However, based on the 6 planners I’ve included in this list, the average starting cost for a luxury, full-service wedding planner is ~$12,000.

The cost of your luxury Seattle wedding planner will depend on a few key things:

Desired level of support: Are you looking for partial coordination? Partial planning? Full service planning, design, and production? The more hands-on you’d like your planner to be, the higher the investment.

Project scope: The scope of your wedding is determined by things such as production level (sound, lights, set design, stage design, etc.), guest count, food and drinks served, floor plans, venues, and more. The more elements and logistics involved, the bigger the scope of the project for your planners, and the more likely it is that you’ll need additional hands to help out—as well as additional time and resources to make it all happen.

Staff: Speaking of helping hands, luxury wedding planners often provide a full team of expert planners, staff members, and coordinators to aid in bringing your vision to life. The larger the scope of your wedding, the larger the team you’ll need, and the more dedicated support you’ll receive—so the higher your investment is more likely to be.

Length of celebration: Planning services for a multi-day wedding, or a wedding weekend, will obviously require a larger investment than a single-day wedding. Though some planners do offer a slightly discounted rate for additional days after the first—something to consider.
