Is it any surprise that I, an art-loving, fashion-inspired creative, am obsessed with the trend of luxury picnics? You’ve probably seen them on IG or TikTok: groups of friends, family members, couples sitting at an upscale picnic table in the middle of a grassy green park, a sandy beach, or nestled in a forest, surrounded by gorgeous decor and an artistic, very Pinterest-esque setup. Chances are, those picnics were inspired by (or even designed by) Picnic Party, one of the leading luxury picnic companies in the country! I had the pleasure of doing an editorial branding shoot with the founder, Hannah, as she’s actually a past bride of mine—and I am BEYOND lucky to know her. This shoot documenting the love and the passion behind Picnic Party was such a dream come true!
Hannah’s wedding was an absolute stunner—definitely recommend taking a peek at her and Gunner’s Colorful & Retro Botanical Conservatory Wedding for all the whimsical garden vibes.
Did you know that Picnic Party, the iconic luxury pop-up picnic brand, actually started in Seattle and was founded by one of our very own Seattle-ites? It’s now grown into an incredible company including luxury picnic businesses in cities across the U.S., offering hospitality, community, and joy to folks nationwide. It has been incredible to see just how much Hannah’s company has expanded over time; it’s even been (deservedly) featured in the Wall Street Journal, King 5 News, and the Seattle Time. Hannah started Picnic Party Seattle out of a love for celebration and gathering around a table, especially during the pandemic, when gatherings like this were essentially not an option. What a beautiful, meaningful way to bring people together and deliver luxury, elevated experiences to anybody who has something to celebrate ✨

Our shoot kicked off with a lavish, summer-inspired picnic in the park; after all, this is a luxury picnic company, isn’t it? 😉 Hannah created the most breathtaking design bursting with the vibrant colors of summertime in the floral arrangement and bright red strawberries, along with a simple array of scarlet tulips. Lest I forget Hannah’s vibrant orange nails, or the vibrant collection of warm-toned macarons sprinkled across the table, the pink one matching the pale pinks of the napkins carefully arranged on every plate. I don’t know about you, but if I were walking around Me-Kwa-Mooks Park while somebody was lounging around at this eye-catching table, I’d be brimming with envy!
We spent the rest of the afternoon creating magic back at Hannah’s house, starting with a mouthwatering daytime tablescape covered in warm bread, sweet pastries, colorful fruits, refreshing cocktails, and the most darling little pink cake topped with gorgeous summertime blackberries. I’m not even sure what I could say here that the photos don’t already show; the vibrancy of this color palette and the intentionality of every little piece of decor + every small detail blew my mind. The pairing of the bright yellow lemon with the scarlet nails, mint green sweater, and rich green salad; the scattered florals, fruit slices, and sparkling golden silverware; I could have spent hours arranging this table and still find new angles, new perspectives, new details to capture.
If you thought that those tablescape shots were already top-tier, I’m not sure you’re ready for this laid-back, living room, game night vibe—absolutely, positively iconic. Truly. What better way is there to spend a Friday night than at home with your closest gals, munching on popcorn and sipping on some bubbly while you play games, chat, and listen to your favorite Dolly Parton vinyl? It felt like this table just kept getting cuter as time went on, with Hannah adding in a collection of mini disco balls, flowing drinks, and—my personal favorite—the block cheese and bowtie pasta-shaped candles. Yes, you heard me right: these candles could truly pass as real food if not for the wick in the middle, and I’m over the moon obsessed with them! Plus those adorable olive napkins to match the olive bowl in the center of the table, and the sparkles from the disco balls glittering across the room? The vibes were immaculate.
We even managed to snag a few photos of Hannah and Gunnar being the sweethearts they are in the kitchen, before heading over to a pale pink backdrop for some individual headshots of the lovely, talented, oh-so-creative heart behind Picnic Party. It was such an honor to not only see her in action, but to capture the visions she worked so hard to design; it felt like we really managed to bring our Pinterest board to life with this editorial branding shoot. And a huge thank you to Catryce from Captured Media PNW; she tagged along to capture content and it was an amazing partnership!
