This post is dedicated to every couple who dreams of getting married on a tiny little island, surrounded by picturesque views, coastal decor galore, and a group of only their closest friends. Anna and Phoebe tied the knot on Lummi Island, a small, quiet island just across the water from Bellingham, WA, and what an impeccable location it was for their celebration! With a talented team of vendors who brought all the beachy vibes to life, a collection of their most loved people, and a truly spectacular location, Anna and Phoebe sure made waves with their waterfront Lummi Island elopement💙
In honor of the stunning setting they chose for their special day, Anna and Phoebe went all out with their cozy maritime theme, every detail coordinated beautifully & encouraging guests to embrace the welcoming island atmosphere. Picture the beachy bathroom theme inspo you saved to your Pinterest board back in the early 2000’s, but make it elevated.✨🌊 I’m not sure I’ve ever seen as many seashells in one place as I did throughout this wedding day, yet somehow these brides & their creative team of professionals made it feel so elegant & classy without it being too many. From the gorgeous blue & gold, shell-shaped ring dish, to the colorful buoys hanging against the back of the reception, to the polished seashells that served as dinner nameplates for the guests, each and every detail brought the dreamy coastal atmosphere to life!
Pre-ceremony first looks have become increasingly popular in recent years as couples realize they want to spend as much time together on their big day as possible, but did you know there’s another option available to you, too? Instead of waiting for a first look, or until their official ceremony, to see each other, Anna and Phoebe got ready together, helping each other zip up their outfits, slide into their shoes, and put on those final little touches. It is SUCH a privilege getting to be a fly on the wall for moments like these; moments where you and your partner are moving through the emotions of the day together, breathing in the moment, and being present with one another before anything else. I highly, highly recommend considering getting ready together if you’d like to have as much quality time together as you can, and if it would mean a lot to have that private, special time together before the events of the day begin!
P.S. Can we admire the fashion sense here for a moment?! Nothing pairs better with a stunning bridal jumpsuit than chunky ankle boots to match, and Phoebe knew it 😉 Anna brought her own style into her outfit, wearing a simply gorgeous gown with an elegant V-neck, double spaghetti straps, and a couple of glam, pearl-covered hairpieces to go with her round pearl earrings. I’m telling you – these beauties even embraced the coastal theme in the jewelry they chose!
Anna and Phoebe opted for a backyard elopement ceremony – but make it waterfront. They had all the intimate, meaningful elements of a backyard wedding at your own home, combined with the luxury and elegance of a stunning waterfront elopement venue that was made for occasions like these. The venue was a locally-owned vacation home with Stay & Sea, who rents out a variety of homes around Lummi Island that are equally as breathtaking, and make for the perfect intimate wedding venues!
The brides exchanged their vows in front of the most spectacular views, holding hands and standing atop a beautiful red rug as their family members and friends watched next to them. I have been loving this trend of guests sitting in a crescent shape around the altar rather than in straight rows, especially for small ceremonies like this – it makes it feel so much more intimate & cozy!
After Anna and Phoebe were officially Mrs. and Mrs., we made our way around the home, taking advantage of the lush green trees and stunning ocean views the property had to offer for portraits of the newlyweds. I truly have never seen two people more in love and genuinely, wholeheartedly thrilled to be with one another; Anna’s smile says it all!
When I tell you I was obsessed with the details at Anna and Phoebe’s reception, I mean obsessed – it was nearly impossible to narrow down images to use in this blog! A long table was set up on the ocean shore with settings for each of their guests, each including a matching set of sandy-brown dishware, a beautifully-designed menu, a seashell nameplate, and plenty of glistening candles + sprawling floral arrangements. The cozy evening was filled with emotional speeches, mouthwatering coastal-inspired dishes, and desserts packed with fresh fruit, with a dance party inside the home to end the celebration. Watching Anna and Phoebe be so supported and loved by all of their guests was a true honor – I am so humbled every single time I get to document a love-filled day like this!
Lummi Island is the perfect destination for a Pacific Northwest island wedding, boasting glorious mountain and ocean views, beautiful foliage and wildlife, and a variety of gorgeous places to explore.
