There’s nothing I love more than an inspired couple who comes to me with an idea and tells me to run with it – the creative opportunities are truly endless if you open yourself up to them! So when Leiya & Steven said they were inspired by Daisy Jones & the Six, and wanted their outfits to embody all those delicious free-spirited-70’s-rock-band vibes, whewww I knew this was going to be a GOOD one. I hope you adore their Daisy Jones & the Six inspired engagement photos just as much as I do, because it was an absolute blast to bring to life!
Leiya & Steven weren’t the only ones who starred in this woodsy engagement; no, their pup made an appearance too and absolutely stole the show! I will ALWAYS say yes to bringing along your furry friends if it’s important to you to have them be a part of your session, because let’s be honest – they’re basically your children, yes? So we made sure to spend some time at the beginning of the shoot capturing Leiya, Steven, and their precious little corgi enjoying the woods & cozying up on the deck, being the sweet little fam they are!
For this portion of the session, they went with a cute & casual vibe with their outfits, Leiya in a gorgeous cream-colored textured top and ripped, flared jeans, and Steven in a long-sleeve blue top with rust-orange pants. I love encouraging couples to bring out different aspects of their unique personalities through a variety of outfits, so I loved that Leiya & Steven went for a slightly dressed-up daily look before changing into more eclectic, boho, wedding-esque attire!
The next set of outfits is really where the Daisy Jones & The Six + 70’s vibes came in, and I swear it was like these two came straight out of the TV series with how natural they looked in them! Leiya swapped her short-sleeve & denim look for a gorgeous, totally boho off-white dress that I was head-over-heels OBSESSED with. Featuring a deep v-neck cut on the front that left room for her stunning, chunky necklace and soft, ruffled material galore, Leiya looked like a damn bohemian queen, movie star, runway model, all of the above. I am in LOVE with how much room this dress left for movement, perfect for all the free-spirited, barefoot vibes we were going for with her styling – especially combined with her beaded jewelry and loose, wavy hair. And that open back that allowed her breathtaking tattoo to shine? Chef’s kiss!
Steven embodied all the boho vibes just as perfectly by her side, wearing a burnt orange suit that felt like it was taken straight out of the 70’s over a classic white undershirt. Burnt orange is THE color to wear if you’re eloping in the Pacific Northwest and want to enhance all the gorgeous earth tones around you, as it pairs so beautifully with the deep greens & browns of the trees without blending in too much. He looked like a 70’s king next to his boho dancing queen in the woods – what a pair! Straight out of the novel that Taylor Jenkins Reid wrote, I swear.
And for the last set of outfits, we scaled it down a little bit, swapping the bridal-esque attire for a more laid-back, boho-chic look that probably felt the MOST inspired by Daisy Jones & The Six! Leiya was such a stunner and truly looked phenomenal in each & every piece she wore, her last outfit featuring a pair of classic denim shorts, a cream-colored, lacey tank top, and a thin floral cardigan. She tied it all together with a gorgeous pair of knee-high, brown suede boots that I was obsessed with & that helped highlight her thigh tattoo so beautifully!
Steven threw on a pair of black jeans & black boots, with a navy shirt and a brown jacket layered on top. Yet again, he mastered the earth tones of the Pacific Northwest with that deep blue and rich brown that went seamlessly with the greenery around them!
Once we’d snapped plenty of photos with the floral cardigan thrown over her shoulders, she swapped it out for a sheer, floor-length robe with flared sleeves that embodied the free, dancing-in-the-desert vibe so perfectly. Aaand for one last surprise, Leiya brought out a phenomenal tan fur coat that I absolutely fell in LOVE with. Her last outfit (made up of a simple tank, shorts, & boots) is a perfect example of how you can easily swap out accent pieces, like jackets or cardigans, to create a totally new look!
P.S. shoutout to the magician Amanda Dang for Leiya’s unreal hair & makeup styling 🙌
I already fell in love with Canyon Creek Cabins when I photographed Fai & Jon’s Chic Cabin Elopement there last year, but it blew my expectations away yet again this time around. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a cozy place to stay, or to host your engagement/intimate elopement!
What a lovely day in the beautiful PNW with Leiya and Steven – it was an honor to style their Daisy Jones & The Six-inspired engagement!✨
