A little bit of the outdoors, a little bit of the city, and a whole lotta love – Karla and Alex’s Snoqualmie elopement was the loveliest day to be a part of! The fact that you can take a quick jaunt out to the mountains before tying the knot in downtown Seattle still blows my mind. We are so spoiled in Washington State, and you bet these two took full advantage of that fact! From their outdoorsy elopement portraits in the mountains to panoramic views of the city as the sun went down, Karla and Alex’s elopement day had it ALL.✨
Hannah Montana said it best: you truly can have the best of both worlds when you elope in Washington! Instead of choosing between an adventure elopement out in nature & an urban elopement in the city, Karla and Alex said to hell with it and planned a day that incorporated both. Why choose when you can have it all: mountains, trees, rivers, & the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Seattle? 😉
If you’d like to see another example of what your outdoorsy AND downtown elopement could look like, check out Ruponthi and Joe’s Intimate Rattlesnake Lake Elopement & Quaint Sodo Reception – they started their day with a private lakeside vow exchange, then headed into the city for an intimate reception at a beautiful studio with loved ones.
Karla and Alex’s Snoqualmie elopement kicked off with a little adventure around North Bend, one of my favorite areas of Washington. It’s a fabulous option for couples who want to take outdoorsy elopement portraits or elope out in nature, with beautiful mountain views & lush forests, but don’t quite want to make the drive to Mount Rainier, Olympic National Park, or the North Cascades!
All of Karla & Alex’s siblings flew in to join them, so I got the pleasure of exploring this area not just with the wonderful couple, but also their closest loved ones. We snapped some fire portraits of the bride and groom, because of course they had to show off their killer fashion choices! Karla chose a beautiful long-sleeve, lace-covered gown with a high neckline and gorgeous floral patterns galore + a matching veil. I adored the simplicity + elegance of this dress and Karla’s choice to keep her accessories to a minimum, just wearing a dainty silver bracelet, chunky stud earrings, and sky blue heels. And her minimal yet glam bridal makeup?! That subtle golden eyeshadow was EVERYTHING!
Alex absolutely knew what he was doing, too, because he picked THE perfect suit color for a PNW mountain elopement: burgundy. Plum. Whatever shade you define it as, it was an incredible choice that blended in beautifully with the greens & blues of the North Bend scenery! With minimal accessories just like his stunner of a wife, black under layers, and a shiny black pair of shoes, this groom absolutely rocked his look🔥

After taking plenty of moody elopement portraits amidst the lush, green forest, we hopped back in our cars and made our way to the city for these two to tie the knot. Before Karla and Alex made things official, we snapped some pics of the two of them & their siblings up on the deck, overlooking Seattle as the sun set. We headed back inside for the big moment, a tripod set up with their families on a Facetime call as Karla and Alex said their vows. The timing could not have been more perfect for this courthouse ceremony – the golden glow + shapes of the shadows as daylight faded away was pure magic for the newlyweds!
Now you know me – I’m a total sucker for a good color palette and a big, beautiful bouquet. Luckily, Karla and Alex had both! Their elopement fell right at the beginning of the spring season (although it was still a bit cloudy and chilly out – classic PNW!), so they opted for the dreamiest spring color palette full of blues, vibrant oranges, and abundant greenery. I am obsessed with an orange & blue color combo (the color theory nerd inside of me loves a good set of complementary colors!), so I absolutely could not stop taking photos of Karla’s lush bouquet bursting with dreamy spring blooms. And the pastel color palette paired seamlessly with Alex’s burgundy-plum suit, too!
They cheered outside of the courthouse with their loved ones after making things official, and suddenly the day was already done. What a fun adventure this was with Karla and Alex, all the way from the mountains to the busy streets of Seattle!
I’ll always say yes to a fun adventure in the mountains, a walk through the whimsical woods of the PNW, or a downtown stroll – especially to a day that includes all three! 😉 If you’re dreaming up your own Snoqualmie elopement, let’s create some magic together✨
