Last year, I spent the most FUN evening strolling the streets (and rooftops!) of downtown Seattle with Hannah & Gunnar for their Seattle waterfront engagement – and wow was it hard to pick just a few photos for this one! You know I love it when couples bring outfit changes to their session, but these two took it to a whole new level. We spent the evening creating a bunch of different looks to capture every element of their unique personalities, from vintage/retro on a rooftop, to casual bridal on the docks, all the way to badass business-chic as the sun set over the water. It was a dream come true getting to create with these two for hours on end in this beautiful city!
When I say we can hit up multiple locations for your engagement session, I mean it. I want you to think of the most fun, creative, out-of-the-box places we could visit that would bring out your unique personalities, and we’ll make it happen! Maybe you love meandering through the local farmer’s market, or you have a favorite milkshake joint that you visit every Friday evening. Or maybe you’re like Hannah & Gunnar, who look like absolute naturals dancing around on top of a roof in downtown Seattle as if they do it every day 😉
There are NO limits when it comes to your engagement session, so don’t restrict yourselves to what you see on Pinterest or what you think you’re “supposed” to do! I am totally obsessed with all of the looks we created for Hannah & Gunnar’s session, each one unique and embodying a different aspect of their personalities + their relationship. Let’s take a little peek at each one so I can rave about these two even more!
Just as the sun began to set over the city, gifting us with the dreamiest backlight to shoot with, we made our way up, up, & up for some rooftop engagement photos in downtown Seattle. Hannah & Gunnar started off with a delightful neutral color palette, Hannah wearing an adorable cream-colored halter top with white jeans, and Gunnar in a pale-peach & white-striped shirt with black jeans. Their light tones & white sneakers paired so beautifully with the yellow glow of the sun behind them as they traipsed along the rooftop ever so casually!
We had to take FULL advantage of the gorgeous city views from this rooftop, so of course Hannah did a whole freakin’ outfit change up there before we changed locations. This look might have been my favorite of the night, full of the dreamiestttt retro vibes complete with a silver convertible, a vintage floral jumpsuit, bright salmon-colored sandals, & cat-eye sunglasses. Talk about STYLE – was I shooting with Hannah and Gunnar or a celeb couple on the cover of Vogue?!
After I’d spent enough time gushing over their fashion choices & the fabulous convertible they drove around, we made our way to the water for some bridal-inspired Seattle waterfront engagement photos. Hannah put on a stunning, short white dress, a pair of chunky white heels, and a short veil that all came together for the most beautiful casual-bridal look. And she threw on those white cat-eye sunglasses for a few, of course 😉 I was dying over the way she was holding onto Gunnar’s undone black tie on the dock – the CUTEST and most natural couple ever! Don’t they look like they spontaneously ran off to the courthouse together to tie the knot because they just couldn’t wait to marry each other?!
Told you we created so. dang. many fabulous looks throughout this shoot, alllll the way until the end when Hannah threw on a full-white blazer & trousers. What a BADASS, rocking the most gorgeous business-chic look next to her handsome partner as they popped champagne and toasted to their love. I am ALWAYS here for blazers during your engagement photoshoot, which are extra fun if you want to make it a little sexy and go without an undershirt like this stunner did! 😉 We ended the night toasting to their love at blue hour with the Great Wheel glowing purple & the blue waves of the Puget Sound rolling behind them.
I cannot WAIT to share Hannah & Gunnar’s wedding on the blog here very soon, which I also had the honor of shooting this year. Now who’s ready to venture through the city with me for their own Seattle waterfront engagement photos after seeing Hannah & Gunnar’s? 😉 Let’s chat and make it happen, loves!
