It is ALWAYS an honor getting to photograph a couple in love, but it’s extra special when the couple are already good friends of yours. Being trusted to capture the most cherished moments in a relationship & turn them into art is something I will never take for granted, especially when it’s with people like Jessica & Everett. When I tell you that the vibes were hot even in the middle of a chilly PNW fall day, I mean HOT – you’re going to need a drink after you see this edgy motorcycle couples session in Snoqualmie!🔥
When I’m planning an engagement or adventure session with a couple, they typically assume they have to choose just one “theme” for their shoot, or one vibe to embody: glam OR casual. Laid-back OR luxurious. Urban OR outdoorsy. But I’m not sure if anyone actually ever made that a rule, because – as Jessica & Everett are displaying so effortlessly here – you can absolutely incorporate multiple aspects of your personality into your shoot, or have multiple different themes.
Or, just like these two did, you can dress for one setting and shoot in a totally different one! They brought all the urban, city vibes to the lake with their black leather jackets, stylish skinny jeans, & chunky black boots (my personal favorite part of Jessica’s getup🔥). Feel free to go the opposite way for your own shoot, too – put on your favorite hiking attire & rock your REI boots in the big city if that’s what you feel like doing, because why not? There is absolutely NOT just one right way to curate your shoot; as long as it authentically represents you and your love, your relationship, and your unique personalities, it’s a resounding yes from me!
Now that I’ve made sure you know that there are zero limitations when it comes to dreaming up your couples session, let’s talk about this badass couple right here. Jessica & Everett showed up looking like the hottest damn power couple you’ve ever seen, donning plenty of black, brown, & leather. Oh, and with a motorcycle on hand, ready to rumble & level up an already badass session. I am head-over-heels obsessed with using props like this in sessions, as it adds a fun layer + way to represent your personalities, and adds some variety to the shots we get! We played around with plenty of slow-shutter shots, of course, which is a super fun way to really show movement in photos. With the overcast PNW skies, a gentle lakeside breeze, and a fiery couple, I’m not sure how I could’ve drawn this shoot up more perfectly!
Long story short: this is your PSA to bring your motorcycle to your couples session with me and show up with plenty of black leather + edgy fashion choices🖤
Whewww my friends sure knew how to bring ALL the heat to a cold autumn day by the lake – if you’ve needed a sign to do a spicy couples shoot, consider this to be it🥵Once again, your couples session should embody the unique aspects of your relationship & show off what you love about each other, whether that be through a sweet, romantic stroll through a field of wildflowers or through some heated moments on top of a motorcycle 😉 The way these two were absolute NATURALS and looked like they did this every day without an ounce of effort? Absolutely obsessed.
You may have seen a furry friend or two in the background of some of these shots, so don’t worry – we snapped a few family photos with the whole fam before we left! I always encourage my couples to bring their pets along to their session if they’re a meaningful part of their lives (which is usually the case) so we can incorporate them into a few photos. If you do want to bring your pup(s) to your shoot, make sure that they’ll be well-behaved, that you bring some treats & water, and that you follow any leash regulations in the area! It can also be helpful to park closeby so you can leave them in the car for a few minutes while you grab shots of just the two of you, or even to bring a friend along to take care of them when they’re not in front of the camera with you.
Allow me to just take one more minute to drool over Jessica & Everett’s fashion choices – I swear they look like a celebrity couple on the cover of some badass motorcycle magazine❤️🔥If you’re envisioning a little bit of *edge* and power couple vibes for your own couples session, take all the inspo you can get from these two!
Jessica started out in a pair of light wash jeans that fell perfectly over her chunky black boots, paired with a hooded leather jacket on top that paired flawlessly with the colorful graphic tee underneath. Everett’s picks were just as stylish; his dark wash jeans created a perfect contrast against Jessica’s light bottoms, and his dark brown Merlin motorcycle jacket was a slam dunk. Oh, and did I mention that Jessica’s graphic tee disappeared for a few shots in the middle of the shoot?!
They both made not one, but TWO outfit changes part way through; Jessica changing into a little black dress with a striking cutout + fringe falling down the back, and Everett into yet another badass motorcycle jacket. For the last set of shots, Jessica threw on a fiery, deep burgundy dress with her leather jacket draped over her shoulders, and Everett changed into a white tee, black pants, & a fur-lined denim jacket.
Again: THIS is the couple to look to if you need inspiration for your own edgy couples session outfits!
I had the biggest blast with these bombshells and cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this year. Still recovering from all the fire they brought from minute 1!
