Emily and Mark’s rock ‘n’ roll wedding in downtown Seattle was one for the books—the embodiment of our city’s iconic grunge mixed with a little glitz & glam. And there was truly no better venue to make it happen than the Edgewater, with its sweeping waterfront views on this sunny summer day ☀

There is NOTHING I love more than a wedding with a theme—and a couple who is dedicated to bringing it to life. Emily and Mark committed to their rock ‘n’ roll theme down to the smallest of details, and it resulted in the most fabulously grungy day, elevated with a touch of style and luxury.
Their shared adoration for rock music and those ‘90s emo vibes we all know and love contributed to a wedding full of fun, unique details and decor: band vinyls scattered across their reception tables, inflatable guitars passed around on the dance floor, and the most unique seating chart you ever did see.
But we’ll get to that a little bit later: for now, let’s take a look at the luxe accessories & designer attire that brought the chic to this grunge-chic celebration!

Emily got ready in a beautiful suite at the Edgewater, enjoying a morning of mimosas and stunning waterfront views alongside her closest group of gals. Donning silk black robes with champagne glasses in hand, these gorgeous women were Emily’s biggest cheerleaders as she prepared to walk down the aisle, and transformed into the most breathtaking bride. Designer jewelry and accessories covered seemingly every surface of the suite, with sparkling Swarovski necklaces, Versace perfume, Chanel chains, and glistening white pearls galore—too many to count. Emily was truly every bit the grunge-luxe bride she had been dreaming of, as was Mark as the groom, sporting a classy gray tux with a forest-green waistcoat.

The Edgewater’s Olympic Ballroom is truly unlike any other waterfront ceremony venue in downtown Seattle, boasting an expansive wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. It was the perfect place for Emily and Mark to tie the knot in front of their loved ones, beneath crystal chandeliers and framed by symmetrical floral installations atop acrylic pillars. Ugh—obsessed.
After a couple more glasses of champagne and hugs all around, we ventured outside for portraits by the waterfront—and eventually, back around to the front of the Edgewater for portraits with the hotel’s iconic neon “E”. If this is not the most snazzy wedding party I’ve ever seen, I’m not sure what is: the pale pink gowns, the designer purses, the oversized sunglasses… a dream group for me to style.

Nothing screams Alexandrae Photo like an entire section dedicated to Louboutins. Emily had already worn a pair of elegant white leather Louboutins for the ceremony, but she really said let’s add a little more of an edge for the rest of the night. Before portraits with her new hubby, she swapped her heels for chunky pumps studded with silver rhinestone spikes. Unreal.
Mark had a pair of black Louboutin sneakers to match, so these two showed off their stylish accessories and attire as we wandered around the outskirts of the venue—along the waterfront, through the bar, and on the steps of the Band Entrance, of course. I could’ve stayed with these two forever, but we had a fabulous reception to get to.

This reception is really where Emily and Mark’s love for music came alive, starting with their seating chart in the form of concert tickets for their favorite bands. Every table had a band vinyl, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, and Slipknot, and their guestbook came in the form of—you guessed it—blank vinyls to sign.
The newlyweds made their way into the ballroom for their grand entrance, ready to party with studded “Till Death Do Us Part” denim jackets and inflatable guitars to pass around the dance floor. No part of this reception was traditional or boring in the slightest—even their honeymoon fund game with a little extra fun for their guests, in the form of “Banned Songs” with price tags on them! I’m telling you, I work with the most creative and hilarious couples out there.
Emily surprised us all with an outfit change after dinner, swapping her gown for a more comfortable lace dress and her leather stilettos—just in time for the dance floor to pop off, and for the late night snacks to come out. What better way to end the night than with sliders, pretzels, fries, and a few romantic nighttime portraits in front of the city skyline? 🥂

I could not have imagined a more perfect setting to bring Emily and Mark’s vision to life than the Edgewater Hotel, an iconic hotel on the Seattle waterfront not just known for its beautiful views and events, but its history.
Originally built for the World’s Fair in 1962, this hotel has hosted some of the most iconic rock musicians of the century, from The Beatles, to Kurt Cobain, to Led Zeppelin. While you may not be able to stay at the Edgewater with Pearl Jam as your neighbors anymore, they’ve really preserved the iconic history of this hotel beautifully over the years, with event spaces that provide plenty of room to bring your own rock band, framed photos of famous rock stars through the years covering the walls, turn tables available to rent in your room, and even a few specialty themed Beatles or Pearl Jam suites.
All that to say: if you’re looking for the perfect venue to bring your rock ‘n’ roll Seattle wedding to life, this is it. 🎵

I already can’t wait to head back to the Edgewater for another fabulous day like Emily and Mark’s—or to any of Seattle’s other breathtaking waterfront wedding venues, for that matter. Inquire about your wedding date now, and share all the details of what you’re envisioning with me; I cannot wait to begin this story together. ✨
