Charlotte & Quinn’s beautiful, PNW-inspired backyard wedding in Seattle was nothing short of a dream; a playground for capturing genuine, candid moments and joyful connection from beginning to end. It was the most beautiful representation of love and the many journeys a relationship can take along the way, only to end up in an even more soul-filling, world-changing kind of love shared between two incredible humans. What a privilege to be a small part of this intimate wedding, and to see all the magic that Charlotte and Quinn created for their special day!
Charlotte & Quinn’s Intimate Backyard Seattle Wedding
A journey of growth, learning, and love
It’s always difficult for me to put these types of wedding days into words after the fact, from my own perspective as a vendor; to paint a truly accurate picture of the connection between Charlotte and Quinn. So I’ll just share a few little snippets from their vows instead, to help you get a feel for the heartfelt emotions poured out throughout this day:
“We have been in each other’s lives for 15 years, nearly half of our lives, spent growing together, learning how to move through this world, & discovering who each other is in the process.
Our journey has already been filled with more life changes than most people experience in a lifetime. But every turn has led us here & made us who we are.
You have taught me how to love deeper than I ever thought possible, & that love really doesn’t have to make sense. That there aren’t conditions when you’re with your person, & that you shouldn’t have to decide if you love someone, it just never fades & you’re always pulled back into it.
I Love You, All Ways & Forever.”
My heart. Exploding. I adored the way they emphasized “all ways” as a play on “always,” representative of the many changes they’ve seen in their relationship and the way they’ve grown stronger together through them all. Loving each other always, in all ways, no matter what.🤍
A DIY dream come true
I was AMAZED when I showed up to Charlotte and Quinn’s backyard wedding and saw their setup for the first time—would you believe me if I told you that nearly every element of this jaw-droppingly-beautiful event was DIY? They worked really hard on a remodel of their backyard for it to be perfect for their wedding, and I’d say they succeeded a million times over. Charlotte designed and planned most of the details, and honestly could be a wedding planner or designer herself with that level of talent, it was incredible!
The way these two designed their backyard to incorporate so many gorgeous elements and breathtaking landscaping is top-notch, from towering fan palms, to dreamy furnishings, to an adorable little pond sprinkled with white roses and candles. It was incredibly easy to capture the essence of Charlotte and Quinn’s relationship with the event taking place on their own property, as I was able to snap photos of the interiors of their home, documenting personal touches such as their gallery wall and colorful bookshelf. Love love being able to tell the full story of a couple’s relationship by capturing all the unique ways they’ve made their space their own.
Not only was their home itself absolutely stunning, all the little pieces of the day were as well—small touches made everything personal to Charlotte and Quinn, such as the personalized matchboxes for guests, gold leaf oyster shells engraved with guests’ names, custom Vans, and a lovely canvas welcome sign with their names. Every little detail was intentional, personal, and gorgeously designed/handmade from start to finish. By no means are the aesthetics what your wedding day is all about, but it is a place for you to bring your unique visions as a couple to life and that will always excite me as your photographer! Gorgeous PNW-inspired elements galore
One of my favorite parts of this intimate Seattle wedding was the way Charlotte and Quinn chose to incorporate so many Pacific Northwest-inspired elements into their design and decor. It may have been the middle of the summer, but we had a somewhat cloudy Seattle day that actually brought out all the greens of the backyard in a really stunning way. Combined with the green & blue color palette, the native ferns and foliage on the napkins + in the florals was simply breathtaking, and offered all that vibrant greenery that we love so much here in the PNW. I loved how much Charlotte and Quinn focused their floral arrangements around greenery rather than bright, colorful flowers—who says you need flowers on your wedding day?!
This nature-inspired color palette was also the perfect pairing with the whites and golds found throughout their wedding decor, from their sparkling gold jewelry to the gold-rimmed oysters placed at the dinner table. The wedding party wore varying shades of green—a dreamy combo of olive, forest, sage, and mint—and a fun set of matching teal robes while getting ready. When I said that every part of this day was intentional and fully thought out, I meant it; everything flowed together so seamlessly!
A celebration of love in all its forms
While the creative decor and aesthetics of the day were incredibly fun to capture, the true focus of this day was the love shared not only between Charlotte and Quinn, but amongst the intimate group of loved ones they chose to invite. When you’ve been through so much as a couple it only makes those moments with people who love you 10x more special, more cherished; it was easy to see the love and support brought by every single guest who showed up to celebrate them. This was the perfect example of intentionally crafting a day that’s beautiful and personal to you, but ultimately revolves around your journey and everything you’ve been through to get to this moment. The biggest congratulations to the Mrs. and Mrs. on a stunning day, and the start of what’s sure to be an incredibly beautiful life together as a married couple! 🥂
