When it comes to brand photoshoots, so often I see business owners limiting themselves to whatever preconceived notions they may hold: that brand photos need to be “professional,” that they need to look a certain way, be taken in a certain type of studio, use a specific set of poses. But one of the reasons I adore brand photoshoots is just how CREATIVE you can get with them—in fact, they should never be limited to what you’ve seen on social media, or any preconceptions you may have. Your brand photos should be representative of you and your unique set of values, offerings, talents, and creativity; everything your clients love about you, and everything that makes you YOU are what should shine through! While this photoshoot with Dana in downtown Seattle was more of a fashion shoot just for fun, I think it’s very branding-esque, and can provide an endless fountain of inspiration for entrepreneurs dreaming of a fashion-forward brand shoot that is completely, wholly, 100% unique to them.
My goodness, I’m not sure I’ve ever had this tough of a time narrowing down images for a blog post—and I’m not sure I did too great a job at it, either. So I hope you’re ready to scroll through a large collection of what may be some of my favorite images I’ve taken yet!
Let me start this off by saying that Dana is the definition of fashion, pure and simple. It’s as if she were born to be in front of a camera lens, swapping outfits, accessories, and hairstyles every few minutes, looking just as effortless in each and every one. It took no time at all for Dana to warm up to the camera at the start of our shoot—we dove in headfirst and my jaw was on the floor within MINUTES of taking my gear out of my bag.
If you find yourself obsessed with these high-fashion brand photos, I’ve got plenty more where that came from; you’re going to LOVE these Creative Fashion Branding Photos at Humano Studio!
We started our shoot at one of the most iconic locations in Seattle, the MoPOP, choosing it for its bold, vibrant colors, patterns, textures, and artwork that served as the perfect backdrop for Dana’s first few sets of outfits. This part of our shoot was focused on playing with color and manipulating light, using the unique shapes present at the outdoor MoPOP Plaza to our advantage. Dana’s first outfit was full of straight lines, edges, and a minimalist black and white color palette, allowing us to play around with the bold reds, the soft curves, and the shimmers of rainbow light without worrying about anything clashing, or creating a distraction. She wore a tight-fitting, strapless, newspaper print tube dress, looking like the absolute talk of the town + center of attention she deserves to be! Elevating this look to sexy-business woman was an oversized black blazer, paired with a matching black leather Jacquemus handbag and an array of chunky gold & silver jewelry.
Pink will never go out of style, I promise you—especially when it’s worn by someone with pink hair, pink shoes, and a matching pink Gucci compact 😉 After giving Dana’s black and white outfit its turn, it was pink’s time to shine beneath the warm-toned shadows given off by the iconic MoPOP exterior. Her outfit of choice for this bold, monochromatic look was a bright fuschia ensemble, featuring an oversized square blazer, a shiny silk long-sleeve button-up, and the most killer pair of matching leather pink pants. I’m not sure how she managed to coordinate each and every piece of this outfit with different materials and ever-so-slightly different tones of pink, but I applaud her for it! She even donned a sexy, sleek pair of velvet pink stilettos, walking around in these high heels in the middle of the city like it was nobody’s business—just hers. As she should. Still can’t decide which images from this look are my favorite, the full-body shots of her sitting on the ledge or the close-ups of her jewelry, hair, nails, and glistening Gucci mirror. A luxury QUEEN if I’ve ever seen one.
Once we’d made use of the vibrant colors of the MoPOP in all her glory, we headed up to a rooftop overlooking the city just in time for golden hour. Dana pulled out yet another oversized blazer to continue the badass, professional-chic vibe, a gorgeous cream-colored piece layered over a sparkling black rhinestone crop top—possibly my favorite of the day up until that point. The glistening silver rhinestones matched the pointed stilettos she wore, and looked killer with a pair of fitted black trousers as she casually strolled along the roof, pink hair glowing in the bright rays of the setting sun. A moment for the beige Jacquemus mini handbag and those gorgeous rings that absolutely stole the show!
If you thought the fun was over after those three marvelous looks, you’d be wrong—Dana was just getting started. Her next look featured an all-black getup, a strapless black corset lined with fluffy faux fur tucked into high-waisted black jeans, with delicate pops of white gold dangling from her ears in a pair of oversized earrings. The combo of this sleek outfit and her loose low bun? Chef’s kiss. And how about one final blazer, for good measure?
We wrapped our shoot on the way down from the rooftop, Dana changing into a couple of oversized sweatshirts for a more laid-back look as golden hour shone through the parking garage. What an absolute DREAM of a shoot; I could have included every single photo from this gallery in this blog post and have been thrilled. Give me more fashion-forward brand shoots like this, please!
