Getting the chance to travel out to Kauai to capture the wedding of a longtime friend of mine was a DREAM come true. Sasha and Evan opted to leave the PNW for their special day and instead plan a Kauai destination wedding weekend at the Beach House Restaurant, and my goodness was it everything you could imagine for a romantic island wedding (and more)! From their tropical chic wedding decor, to their vibrant pink & orange-filled color palette, to the morning spent surfing with their best friends, Sasha and Evan truly poured their heart and soul into every ounce of this celebration. What an honor to capture it all🤍
Wedding weekends are my new favorite thing heading into 2024—and are something I firmly believe should become a wedding trend, well, forever, especially if you’re having a destination wedding like Sasha & Evan. If you and your loved ones are putting in the time, money, and energy to travel to a beautiful vacation spot (such as this gorgeous area of Kauai), you might as well make the most of it, right?
This sweet bride and groom went the whole nine yards with their Kauai wedding, starting off with a welcome party the evening before the big day. Sasha and Evan dressed up in semi-formal, bridal-esque attire and welcomed all of their friends and family who had traveled in just for them, sipping on delicious cocktails and giving hugs all around as the sun set over the ocean shores. Wedding days go by so wildly fast, especially the morning portion when you’re getting ready—so having this separate, intentional time to spend with your guests before the craziness of the day arrives is so incredibly special. No need to worry about the official stuff yet, or running behind on your timeline; you simply get to enjoy being present with the people you love, in a stunning location!
(And bonus—you get to wear a whole extra set of outfits 😉 Love loved Sasha’s bright pink, chunky heels that perfectly matched their wedding color palette.)
Pro tip: If you’re considering planning a multi-day wedding, be sure to hire your photographer to document the entire thing! Your wedding story deserves to be told in all its beauty, from beginning to end, which is exactly why I’ve got a special “Weekender” wedding package designed specifically for that purpose 🥂 Inquire with me now about your wedding weekend, be it an intimate gathering in the moody forests of the PNW or a tropical soirée on the sunny beaches of Hawaii!

Right from the get go, Sasha knew exactly what she wanted when it came to the theme, vibe, and atmosphere of her & Evan’s wedding: bright, fun hues and an abundance of energy. I love what she wrote in an Instagram caption recently:
“At times while planning a wedding, there feels like a lot of pressure to conform to whatever is the micro trend at the moment. In 2023, sleek, white minimalist, has a very much dominated the industry. I wanted a wedding that felt VIBRANT. Kinetic. Almost alive – and this color palette truly delivered.”
Every element of this day truly brought her one-of-a-kind vision to life: the bridesmaids dresses, the flowers, the surfboards, the decor. . . it was without a doubt one of the most vibrant weddings I’ve ever attended, in every sense of the word. And what better place to host a vibrant, lively celebration than on the tropical island oasis of Kauai? Every shade of pink, orange, and scarlet seemed to both blend in seamlessly & stand out stunningly against the greenery of the island around them; the natural beauty mixed with these pops of color was simply to die for.
Now that I’ve introduced you to the spectacular color palette of this day, let’s focus our attention to the smaller details that Sasha and Evan planned out. Every little detail truly does matter when it comes to your wedding day—the smallest of details are what’s going to bring your entire vision + theme together, and what will set the tone for the day. And boy did Sasha and Evan’s decor + details do just that for their island-paradise vibes!
I know we haven’t even made it to the ceremony yet, but I’m going to skip ahead to the reception for just a moment to share the phenomenal tablescapes with you—I simply cannot wait any longer. Every table at Sasha and Evan’s reception was adorned in the same bold, bright color palette that Sasha’s bridesmaids wore, with the addition of a few delicate blues incorporated into the table settings to represent the beautiful ocean setting. The large tropical blooms and the sprawling greenery were everything, especially as they were paired with deep blue crystal glassware, woven placemats, and gorgeous menus. Above the tables themselves was a collection of bohemian-inspired chandeliers, as well as vining greenery draped over the flowing tent. And did I mention that the seating assignments were located on a full-size surfboard as guests walked into the reception?!
Sasha and Evan opted to start their wedding day on a bit of an untraditional note, getting up early to go out and surf with their friends! I absolutely LOVED that they didn’t start getting ready right away, and instead chose to spend even more intentional, quality time making memories with their guests out in the beautiful island waters. This was such a fun moment to capture for the couple!
After enjoying some time in the waves, everyone made their way back to the shore to start getting ready, the bride and groom each surrounded by their closest loved ones. It was so special getting to document Sasha & her girls wearing their fun matching sets + sunglasses, and then changing into their colorful bridesmaids dresses as Sasha stepped into her bridal gown. The first look between this sweet group and the soon-to-be bride was so special to witness—10/10 recommend having a first look with your friends the morning of your wedding day.
And a moment to appreciate Sasha’s breathtaking, beachy bridal look—
It was a laid-back island celebration, yes, but it was also elevated with a few delicate touches of luxury and elegance here and there; starting with the breathtaking pieces Sasha adorned for her bridal look. Her sparkling, pale blue earrings paired with her long, gold chain with a chunky gem at the end brought out all the beauty of the ocean atmosphere, and I fell in LOVE with her rings as soon as I laid eyes on them. Such a remarkable and unique set featuring a glistening diamond, geometric patterns, and even a slithering gold snake—obsessed! And her refined Loeffler Randall heels + Prada sunglasses brought in even more little bits of luxury for the beautiful bride ✨
I could truly spend this entire blog post gushing over Sasha’s bridal look, which was highlighted by an exquisite gown, designed by Liz Martinez. This cream-colored, floral-embroidered dress featured a luxurious tulle corset, elegant off-the-shoulder sleeves, and a flowy tulle skirt that perfectly embodied all the beach goddess vibes. Looove that she opted for those gorgeous off-the-shoulder sleeves, too!
The big moment finally arrived, and everyone made their way down to the stunning oceanfront ceremony site—one of the most BEAUTIFUL I’ve ever seen, whew. The aisle was not only covered in white orchid blooms, but led up to an absolutely spectacular, circular arbor that was covered in pink & orange floral arrangements. I was absolutely blown away when I first saw this arbor, especially against the scenic backdrop of the blue waters + lit up by the warm island sunshine! It was truly Sasha and Evan’s own little slice of paradise🌴
Following this idyllic beachfront ceremony was time to snap some more wedding party portraits, a.k.a. Portraits of this magazine-worthy group. The bright bridesmaids dresses and champagne-colored groomsmen’s suits looked phenomenal against the greenery of the lawn + the matching color palette of the floral-covered arbor; what a gorgeous group of humans that Sasha and Evan had by their side, too! And then the three of us made our way down to the water for (more than) a few dreamy newlywed portraits at sunset ☀️
The evening was spent under a romantic tent by the water, with a variety of delicious cocktails, exquisite dishes, and a yummy cake (which was even decorated with a few tropical flowers of its own). I was head-over-heels in love with the way that the Beach House set up this tent, with a draping canopy, strings of twinkle lights, and greenery dropping down from the glistening chandeliers. It was truly one-of-a-kind!
Sasha stepped out to the cake cutting with one last surprise—an outfit change from her beautiful bridal gown into a more comfortable lacy piece, adorned with floral patterns and gorgeous detailing for a night on the dance floor. What an iconic couple and a truly, truly unforgettable day for everyone involved! Cheers to the newlyweds!🤍
I just know you fell in love with this venue from the moment you first saw it—I did, too. If you’re considering having your wedding at the Kauai Beach House, I wanted to include a little bit of information about what’s included in their wedding packages! The Beach House’s all-inclusive wedding package begins at $15,000, and includes:
And so much more. This package includes amenities for up to 100 guests, and if you’d like to have over 150 guests, you’ll be required to buy out the entire restaurant (which doesn’t sound too bad to me!). I can’t recommend this incredible Kauai wedding venue enough!
