Being that I am now open for branding projects from January-April of 2024, I figured now was as good a time as any to share this branding shoot I did over the summer with Streamline Your Style. Founders Madison and Leila have done such an incredible job creating a unique business for themselves based around their beliefs, passions, and values, as well as their desire to serve + help others find their confidence through personal style. If you love beautiful clothing, badass business women, harsh sun + dark shadows, and editorial vibes, then you are going to be so inspired by these fashion branding photos at Humano Studios!
One of my core beliefs as a photographer is that in order to truly capture the depths of your heart, your soul, your creativity through my camera lens, I need to get to know you first. I want to create branding portraits that are inspired by your essence, by the desires and motivations behind your business, and by what makes you, well, YOU. This translates to branding photos that not only look beautiful, but make you feel beautiful; that bring out all the best parts of your mind, body, heart, and passions so much more than regular ol’ headshots can.
So in the spirit of getting to know the folks in front of the camera, I wanted to give you a quick introduction to Madison and Leila—the founders of this incredible brand that I got the honor of collaborating + creating with! As an artist myself who takes so much inspiration from fashion, beauty of all kinds, and style, I get so excited working with fellow creatives who are inspired by the same, and who use that to fuel their passions for the good of others. Madison and Leila founded Streamline Your Style (SYS), a wardrobe wellness consultancy, with the goal of reshaping the way that we think about fashion, and helping others embark on a transformative journey through clothing. I am so impressed by the brand they’ve created that not only focuses on minimalist, sustainable fashion (which is so needed in this day and age!), but also on empowering others to step into a more impactful experience on this planet—talk about a dream company to work with.
You can learn all about SYS and its mission here if you’re feeling inspired like I am right now!
Picking a versatile venue with an abundance of space + natural light is the key to taking beautiful branding photos. In order to have a good variety of poses, backgrounds, and angles in your final gallery, you want to choose a location that allows you to get creative, move around, and take up as much space as you’d like (as you deserve)! Madison and Leila did just that for their SYS branding photos, deciding on Humano Studios as their perfect venue.
Humano is a fabulous collection of studios in Seattle, all of which are incredible options for all types of sessions; from team branding shoots, to indoor elopement portraits, to boudoir sessions. Each studio has abundant natural light, clean backdrops, and a variety of props—it’s a truly lovely option to book for your branding portraits or any other type of creative portrait session.
A big reason I love branding photos with all my heart is that they entail SO much variety and creativity; we’re not just taking plain ol’ headshots here, my friends—we’re creating art out of you and the business you’ve built from the ground up. And for Madison and Leila’s branding shoot, we focused on three essentials of a fashion branding shoot: portraits, details, and an endless amount of lifestyle candids.
We spent time taking a mixture of both individual portraits of Madison, Leila, and the rest of the gals, as well as some pretty freaking killer group portraits toward the end of the session. I’m obsessed with the group shots of these badass women doing their thing & strutting their stuff, but especially the final few shots where they look like a killer female-owned company that’s being featured in Forbes magazine🔥These ladies also made the fab decision to hire a professional HMUA—Lisa Boehm (@lisaboehmbeauty) made them all look and feel just beautiful!
I can never get enough when it comes to details, be it for weddings, portrait sessions, or fashion branding photos. And when you own a business that revolves around clothing + fashion, there are truly neverending opportunities for stunning detail shots! We created a variety of setups incorporating so many on-brand props, including clothing racks, stylish boots, fashion magazines, high-end purses, art books, sparkling gold jewelry, perfume, measuring tape, and more—all things that screamed pure fashion and artistry. I love loved how Madison and Leila incorporated pieces of their personality and values into even the smallest of details, such as the sustainable rope bag they brought along with them, the sage they burned, and the candle they lit.
Finally, we wrapped this creative afternoon (that could have truly gone on forever, if I’m being honest) with a series of lifestyle candids. Having a blend of posed portraits and unposed lifestyle shots is key to brand photos that will last you a long time + will serve you on all forms of social media, so we took plenty of photos of Madison and Leila doing their thing; measuring pieces of clothing, running the business side of things from their laptop, and showing off the full SYS experience. I’ve been loving seeing them share all of these on their Instagram already!
