Romantic Rose Garden Wedding & Almquist Winery Reception
Eva and Vasily truly embraced everything there is to love about Washington in the summertime when it came to their wedding: lush greenery, vibrant colors, and a bounty of blooming flowers colorin the landscape. With a wedding ceremony at the Woodland Park Rose Garden followed by a breathtaking greenhouse reception at Almquist Winery, every little detail of this day was carefully thought out and executed so beautifully that my job felt much too easy. Grateful to have had the honor to capture the results of all the time, energy, and love that Eva and Vasily poured into their special day!
Eva & Vasily’s Romantic Rose Garden Wedding
A sunny ceremony at Woodland Park Rose Garden
For their ceremony, Eva and Vasily chose the Woodland Park Rose Garden, a picturesque 2.5 acres of landscape adjacent to the Woodland Park Zoo with over 200 varieties of roses that were at their summertime peak. It’s one of the many wedding venues that the zoo has to offer, and I must say – it was a perfect choice to go with their floral-themed day! They had a sweet first look among the trees, and took a gentle stroll around the garden for a few pre-ceremony portraits, the summer sunlight shining through the branches and onto the soon-to-be-married couple.
Before the ceremony began, Eva and Vasily decided to embrace the floral theme even further with a gorgeous crown of baby’s breath for Eva, and a long chain of the same delicate flower for Vasily to wear around his neck. These two looked like the king and queen of a whimsical fairytale, especially with Eva’s stunning gown covered in floral appliques! It was a lovely ceremony under the sun, incorporating traditions that mattered to the two of them as their family & friends watched from the audience.
A vibrant summertime floral theme
It simply wouldn’t be right to tell you the story of this wedding without highlighting one of the main thematic elements of the day: flowers, flowers, and more flowers. Not only did Eva and Vasily tie the knot in the middle of a beautiful rose garden; they also hired an immensely talented florist to craft a collection of jaw-dropping pieces to elevate their decor. Holly, of Holly Yee Floral Architecture, did an absolutely fabulous job of drawing out all the warm, summer feels with the arrangements she built, starting with the stunning asymmetrical pieces that framed Eva & Vasily’s ceremony. Bursting with shades of blue and orange, with lighter shades of peach & plenty of whites to balance out the more vibrant tones, these pieces have got to be some of my favorites I have ever photographed! Mixing the bright colors with soft bushels of baby’s breath & sprawling greenery was a beautiful way to ensure the arrangements blended in with the backdrop of lush greenery that the garden had to offer ✨
A dreamy greenhouse wedding reception at Almquist Winery
I was over the damn moon when I arrived at Almquist Winery for Eva and Vasily’s reception, where the light was shining in oh-so-softly through the glass windows and each table was bursting with the aforementioned florals. The ceremony arrangements were incredible on their own, but the floral-covered tablescape at their greenhouse reception were simply something else. Holly used the same color palette, a mix of pinks, oranges, blues, white, and a few purples thrown in here & there, which paired effortlessly with the naturally-lit, elegant greenhouse venue. Did I mention Eva and Vasily even had their cake decorated on-theme and covered in delicate flower petals? Like I said: every little detail was intentional!
Guests mingled with the newlyweds over an array of delicious finger foods & beautiful drinks during cocktail hour, and eventually made their way to their seats for dinner and speeches from loved ones. Watching Eva and Vasily receive so much love and support was just beautiful, as the lights twinkled & the candle flames danced around the greenhouse to create the warmest evening ambiance! They wrapped up their night on the dance floor in the barrel room, drinks in hand and love abounding – what a fun group this was to watch! I could not be happier for these two lovely, deserving people and am wishing them the most beautiful life ahead! 🥂
