There’s something so incredible about gathering together with 150 of your friends and family at a gorgeous venue in the city, with everybody oh-so-ready to celebrate YOU and your unique love. That’s exactly what Erin and David’s WithinSodo wedding looked like – an all-day party with everybody they love by their sides, supporting this huge step in their lives and pouring out so much love from the moment they arrived till the moment they left at the end of the day. What a delight it was to photograph Erin and David and their special day at this gorgeous Seattle venue, surrounded by a group of amazing humans!
You know I’m a detail fiend until the end of time, so of course we need to start this off with a peek into all the itty bitty, beautiful details & decor from Erin & David’s big day! They celebrated in May, just in time for the beginning of Seattle’s blue summer skies, yet still with just enough time left in the spring season to let it inspire all of their details. And when I say all, I mean all – even Erin’s bright pink Gucci perfume bottle was covered in spring florals, featuring a “gorgeous gardenia” scent 🌸
Speaking of florals, I looove me some whimsical springtime florals, so I was drooling over Erin’s bridal bouquet from the moment I picked it up. Filled with pastel spring colors such as light pink, pale yellow, and even a gentle purple, along with sprawling pieces of lush greenery, this soft yet vibrant bouquet truly embodied the transition from spring to summer so beautifully! David added some extra pops of color to this gorgeous color palette with his floral tie, covered in pale pinks, bright reds, muted greens, and mustard yellow, all of which went perfectly with his boutonniere. Matching Erin’s bridal bouquet were the symmetrical lush floral arrangements framing their ceremony space, which really helped brighten up the room with the help of a gorgeous turquoise rug!
Now for the “emo flair” portion of their details: I absolutely adored Erin & David’s sweetheart table at their reception! Hanging atop a massive floral arrangement bursting with delicate spring beauty was a sign that said “‘Til Death”, next to their wedding date and a pair of skulls facing each other. This wedding definitely had some emo-kid undertones, thanks to this awesome sign and the classic Vans you’ll see that Erin & David wore later in the evening – love loved that these two added in these small touches that reflected their personalities!
If you’re just as obsessed with these soft spring colors & delicate pieces of greenery as I am, make sure you take a moment to check out the Blushing Neutrals Styled Bridal Editorial I recently photographed – probably some of the most magical spring flowers I’ve ever seen.
Erin and David spent the morning with their closest friends, David’s group sippin’ on whiskey and playing games on the rooftop while Erin and her gals toasted their glasses of champagne in their getting ready suite. One of my favorite parts about WithinSodo is that they have dedicated spaces for everybody to get ready in, as well as an open rooftop with gorgeous views of Seattle! Fun fact: WithinSodo’s rooftop deck not only has fantastic views of the city, but also boasts a fully-enclosed bar (the second at the venue), a covered area with a fireplace, heat lamps, a cozy lounge area, and lots of outdoor patio furniture. It’s the perfect place to lounge around in the morning before you get ready for the day, or to get beautiful views of the city at night during your reception!
Thankfully, these two definitely took advantage of the rooftop, as they made their way up to have a private first look above the city. Documenting couples as they see each other in their wedding attire for the first time will NEVER get old, especially when it’s under bright blue skies and sunshine!
After spending some time greeting their guests and giving out plenty of hugs, it was time for their ceremony in front of the exposed brick walls of WithinSodo. This space can fit 120 people seated, but don’t fret if you have a larger group – you can combine both the lounge & the ballroom for up to 300 guests for your ceremony. WithinSodo is SUCH a great venue for any type of wedding, thanks to the many different rooms & flexible floor plans that make it easy for you to customize the space for your perfect day ✨
Once they’d had time to mingle and eat a delish dinner, I headed outside with Erin and David to snap some sunset portraits – oh, and Erin even had a different dress on by this point! Loved how she swapped her glam silk gown for a shorter, more casual dress to dance the night away in. My favorite part of their evening portraits, though, had to have been the classic Vans they put on to go with their wedding attire – Erin’s white dress & bright white Vans provided such great contrast to David’s all-black look & black Vans with white accents. Such a cute and easy way to throw in a little early 2000’s vibe that they loved (and let’s be honest, that we all loved)!
Erin and David’s reception was truly overflowing with love everywhere you looked, with sweet speeches, endless hugs, and massive smiles all around. I always have a blast snapping photos on the dance floor for hours on end, but they really got DOWN with their guests and made it crazy easy to get epic flash photos – do they or do they not look like celebs on the cover of a wedding magazine? What a fantastic way to end the night!
Thanks again to WithinSodo for providing a gorgeous space for Erin and David’s celebration, and to the rest of the vendors who made this day so fabulous!
